Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is an autogenous matrix derived from the patient's own blood. PRF initiates the sustained release of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and transforming growth factor (TGF-beta) and thrombospondin 1. These biomaterials induces rapid healing, especially during the critical first days after surgery eg. implant and extraction.
